Archaeology, Artefacts and Manuscripts

Wearmouth-Jarrow was a major centre of European learning and culture in the 7th century and was home to the Venerable Bede, whose influence remains today. Original and rare remains of 7th century architecture are still standing and excavated finds from the 7th century are also displayed.
