Jarrow and Sunderland are in North East England and there is an excellent network of transport links in the region.
It’s easy to get to, and between, all of the sites which make up the candidate World Heritage Site, by air, rail, car and public transport.
The Metro rail service, which covers all of Tyne and Wear, is fast and efficient, and has stops close to all of the Wearmouth-Jarrow venues.

For the more active among you, Bede’s Cycle Way and Bede’s Way Footpath run between St Peter’s and St Paul’s Churches, and the distance is approximately 12 miles.
Newcastle Central Station is on the main railway line between London and Edinburgh and there are regular services from the Midlands and the West. The Metro can also be accessed from the railway station.
There are international airports at Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley. Newcastle International Airport is linked to the Metro rail service which can take you from within the terminal to Jarrow and Sunderland.
